How do the U-LVR/S and E-LVR/16 leveling legs work?
The Alpha U-LVR/S and E-LVR/16 work in the same fashion. Most film projectors only have a basic forward/backward tilt adjustment. This unfortunately doesn't help with uneven surfaces, so for years and years people had to use some sort of shim in order to get their projector straight.
The Alpha leveling legs work by having the original legs of the projectors sit into the cutout, and then use a simple knurled knob to raise/lower each corner. Both versions give 1" of play, so you can be sure leveling will be a breeze.
What's more, they do not limited the native tilt ability of the projector itself, so you can now dial in your image perfectly.
What are the pads on the U-LVR/S and E-LVR/16 for?
The standard legs on most film projectors use a small, rubber foot to help minimize movement and vibration. Over time, those will distort and wear down from the position they were left in.
The pads on the Alpha leveling legs are there for 2 reasons. First, they are a thicker, soft rubber which will conform to the existing shape of each of the native feet on the projectors, ensuring a solid seating.
Further, the pad has an adhesive top. While this is optional (just remove the top layer to use), it allows the leveling leg to 'attach' to the projector. This way if you need to lift/move your unit, the levelers will stay in place, minimizing the need to readjust afterwards.
What are these products made out of? Are they strong?
All Alpha Series products utilize a very strong, flexible plastic. This is not your cheap, standard type that are brittle and weak. Alpha products were extensively tested to hold the largest items, and be rock solid.
We found a good balance between looks and strength, and feel this is the perfect blend to allow us to bring a superior product to market, while keeping the costs as reasonable as possible.
We do have the ability to fabricate items with even stronger plastics, and metal should the need arise. So if you have a product idea but are worried about how well it will hold up in time, reach out through out suggestion page and let us see if we can figure it out.
Will these products damage my gear?
Short answer no. These are made of a high quality material, and special attention has been paid to ensuring nothing on the original equipment is affected.
Even the lens holders are extremely smooth on the inside, so when you tighten down the clamp, it applies a nice, even pressure around the lens to hold it in place.
Do I need to take the anamorphic lens holder on and off when not needed?
No. While it is certainly okay to remove the lens holder if not needed, we have always found that is just another step that most people don't want to deal with. So we engineered these to be a large enough opening, which allows you to leave the holder in place and allowing the native image to pass through it unobstructed.
If you need the anamorphic lens, simply use the adapters required for the size you have, slide it in and tighten the thumb knob to hold it in place.
Do you stock all of these products? If not, how long do they take to ship?
For our initial launch, we have prepared a limited amount of stock, and updated our store accordingly. Since it is hard to predict which models might be most in demand, we do have limited selection of certain skews.
However, if we were to be out of stock, we usually can restock/ship within a few days.
Should we run into a larger backorder situation, we will reach out to you and give you an idea of timeframe.
My projection theater has a theme...can the Alpha products be made to compliment that?
